Volkswagen’s sub-brand for China has officially unveiled the updated ID. UNYX 06 . While the exterior retains its signature “Windbreak” design language, the vehicle undergoes a massive transformation under the skin. This mid-cycle refresh swaps the previous electronics for the new CEA (China Electronic Architecture), specifically developed by Volkswagen for the Chinese market.
The new model is expected to officially hit the market later this year.
Sleek Aesthetics with Premium Upgrades
The new ID. UNYX 06 maintains its elegant SUV-coupe silhouette and distinctive illuminated gold logo. However, several premium hardware upgrades have been added:
- New Color Palette: A fresh “Midnight Blue” paint option joins the existing Moon Silver, Shadow Black, and Curtain Blue.
- Enhanced Quietness: Front side windows are now upgraded to double-layered laminated acoustic glass for superior noise reduction.
- Wheels & Brakes: The vehicle comes standard with 20-inch sport wheels (21-inch optional). Crucially, rear disc brakes are now standard, replacing the previous drum brake setup.
A Tech-Forward Interior: The Triple-Screen Era
The cabin has been completely reimagined with a minimalist aesthetic and high-performance computing powered by the MediaTek 8676 chip.
The Digital Cockpit includes:
- Triple-Screen Layout: A 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a massive 15-inch central control screen, and a dedicated 10-inch passenger entertainment display featuring privacy protection.
- 27-inch AR-HUD: A massive augmented reality head-up display that blends navigation and ADAS info directly onto the road surface.
- AI Integration: The system features the “Zhipu Qingyan” AI large language model, supporting four-zone voice recognition and “see-and-speak” commands without wake words.
- Audio: Standard 9-speaker system, with an optional 12-speaker UNYX SOUND HiFi luxury upgrade.

Volkswagen has addressed range anxiety by upgrading the entry-level powertrain.

The new ID. UNYX 06 is a heavy hitter in the software space, offering two distinct sensor suites:
- Pure Vision Solution: Standard across the lineup, supporting High-speed NOA (Navigate on Autopilot).
- LiDAR Solution: An advanced tier supporting Urban NOA, with deliveries expected to begin by late 2026.
- Parking: Memory Parking comes as a standard feature for all trims.
