Rugged Design Meets EV Efficiency
The Bao 7 EV maintains the brand’s signature “Titanium Energy” design language. The most notable change is the closed front grille, optimizing aerodynamics for the electric powertrain.
- Front Trunk (Frunk): Unlike the PHEV version, the EV model boasts a massive 201L front trunk, significantly increasing storage capacity.
- Color Palette: Buyers can choose from 10 distinct colors, including Twilight Orange, Snow Hidden Grey, and Mountain Green.
- Dimensions: The vehicle measures 4999mm in length, 1995mm in width, and 1865mm in height, with a 2920mm wheelbase, ensuring a spacious cabin and a commanding road presence.
Tech-Injected Interior: A 7-Screen Experience
The interior follows the “Starship” design philosophy, blending luxury with high-tech functionality. The Bao 7 EV features a 7-screen linkage system, including:
- 15.6-inch Central Console
- 10.25-inch Instrument Cluster
- 26-inch W-HUD (Windshield Head-Up Display)
- Dual 13-inch BYD Pads for rear passengers (optional)
For comfort, the seats utilize a “Soufflé” four-layer structure. Standard features include heating, ventilation, and massage for front seats, a 4.5L cooling/heating refrigerator, and a premium 20-speaker Devialet audio system.
Performance, Battery, and Charging
The Bao 7 EV is powered by the Second-Generation BYD Blade Battery, optimized for ultra-fast charging.
- RWD Version: Delivers 300kW of power, available in 675km or 755km ranges (CLTC).
- AWD Version: Delivers a combined 675kW (approx. 900+ hp), achieving a 675km range with the 105.7kWh battery.
- Chassis & Safety: Equipped with front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension. It comes standard with the DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System and the “Eye of the Gods” (Tian_Shen_Zhi_Yan) L2+ ADAS with LiDAR.
Market Outlook: Can it Rule the Rugged EV Segment?
Since its initial release in September last year, the Bao 7 has become a bestseller due to its competitive pricing and iconic “boxy” styling. By introducing the pure electric “Flash Charge” edition, Fang Cheng Bao is targeting urban adventurers who prioritize zero emissions without sacrificing off-road aesthetics.
With a starting price under $30,000, the Bao 7 EV is positioned to be a formidable competitor against both traditional off-roaders and modern electric SUVs.
