Mercedes-Benz GLC L EV
Mercedes-Benz has officially pulled the curtain back on the All-New GLC L EV, a long-wheelbase electric SUV specifically tailored for the Chinese market. Combining a century of design heritage with cutting-edge 800V architecture, this model marks a significant leap in the brand’s “Electric First” strategy.
1. Design: Heritage Meets High-Tech
The GLC L EV introduces a retro-shield grille inspired by the 1900 classic design, but with a futuristic twist.
- Interactive Lighting: The grille features 942 backlit units and an illuminated Star emblem that displays “breathing” effects during charging and unlocking.
- Digital LED Headlights: Beneath the iconic Three-Pointed Star sits a new LED digital light system with adaptive high-beam functionality.
- Practical Storage: Breaking from traditional SUV constraints, it features a 128L frunk (front trunk), perfect for carry-on luggage.
2. Exclusive “L” Dimensions: More Space for China
Recognizing the demand for rear-cabin comfort, Mercedes has significantly elongated the chassis:
- Dimensions: 4949mm (L) x 1970mm (W) x 1710mm (H).
- Wheelbase: At 3027mm, it is 55mm longer than the international version (and 104mm longer in total body length).
- Seating: For the first time, a 6-seater configuration with two independent luxury seats in the second row is available.
3. The MB.OS Digital Cockpit
The interior is a masterpiece of digital luxury, headlined by the 39.1-inch MBUX Superscreen.
- Hardware: Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and the all-new MB.OS operating system.
- Immersive Audio: A premium Burmesterยฎ surround sound system complements the 64-color ambient lighting.
- Starry Sky Canopy: A multi-zone intelligent panoramic roof features 162 integrated stars with 9 levels of transparency adjustment.
4. Performance: 800V Architecture and eATS 2.0
The GLC L EV is built for performance and long-distance efficiency.
- Powertrain: Dual permanent magnet synchronous motors delivering 310 kW and 800 Nm of torque.
- Range: An 89kWh battery pack provides a CLTC range of over 700km.
- Ultra-Fast Charging: Thanks to the 800V high-voltage architecture, the vehicle supports up to 320kW charging, powering from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes.
5. S-Class Chassis Tech & Level 2++ Driving
Mercedes has cascaded its flagship technology down to the GLC L EV:
- AIRMATIC Suspension: Standard S-Class grade air suspension with automatic damping and height adjustment.
- Rear-Wheel Steering: A 4.5-degree rear-steering angle makes this mid-to-large SUV as nimble as a compact car.
- Smart Pilot: The system utilizes Large Language Models (LLM) for “Navigation on Pilot” in both highway and urban settings, now including ETC gate recognition and wheel-rim risk warnings during parking.
