BYD Sealion 08
BYD has officially announced that its new flagship duo—the Seal 08 (mid-to-large sedan) and the Sealion 08 (mid-to-large SUV)—will make their global debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24th. Alongside these production models, BYD will also reveal the Ocean-V Concept, a glimpse into the future of the brand’s design language.
1. BYD Seal 08: The New Benchmark for Electric Luxury Sedans
The Seal 08 is the latest crown jewel of the Ocean Network, featuring the “Ocean Aesthetics 2.0” design.
- Design & Dimensions: Boasting a premium aesthetic with wave-shaped DRLs and a closed grille. Its dimensions are 5150mm (L) x 1999mm (W) x 1505mm (H) with a massive 3030mm wheelbase.
- Tech-Rich Cabin: The interior features a flagship cockpit with a floating infotainment screen, a full LCD instrument cluster, and a sleek column-mounted gear shifter.
- Performance (BEV & PHEV):
- EV Version: Built on an 800V high-voltage platform with 2nd-gen Blade Batteries. It supports ultra-fast charging (400km range in just 5 minutes). The 4WD version is expected to exceed 480kW (approx. 643 hp), hitting 0-100km/h in under 5 seconds.
- PHEV Version: Features a 1.5T hybrid system with a pure electric range of up to 300 km (WLTC).
- Advanced Chassis: Equipped with Rear-Wheel Steering and DiSus-A (Yun Nian-A) intelligent body control.
2. BYD Sealion 08: A High-Performance Intelligent SUV
Positioned as the flagship SUV of the Ocean series, the Sealion 08 is designed to compete with high-end electric SUVs globally.
- Intelligent Driving: Notably, the Sealion 08 features a roof-mounted Lidar, indicating advanced level 2+ or level 3 autonomous driving capabilities.
- Imposing Stature: The vehicle exceeds 5 meters in length with a wheelbase over 3 meters, offering superior cabin space.
- Powertrain Highlights: * The EV version is rumored to offer a maximum range exceeding 1,000 km.
- Like its sedan sibling, it will feature the 480kW 4WD system and the high-end DiSus-A suspension system, including dual-chamber air suspension and road surface pre-scanning technology.
3. Ocean-V Concept: The Future of Ocean Series
While details remain scarce, the Ocean-V Concept is expected to showcase BYD’s next-generation aerodynamic research and AI-integrated cockpit technology. It serves as a laboratory for the technologies we will see in BYD production cars by late 2026 and 2027.
