Buick Zhijing L7 EV
Following the successful launch of its Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) variant, the Buick Zhijing L7 is officially going fully electric. Recent filings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) have revealed the specifications for the Zhijing L7 EV, a high-performance luxury sedan set to disrupt the mid-to-large EV segment when it hits the market in Q3 2026.
High-Voltage Performance: 800V & 6C Charging
The most significant upgrade for the pure electric version is its power architecture. Unlike many competitors in its price bracket, the Zhijing L7 EV will feature:
- 800V High-Voltage Platform: Ensuring superior energy efficiency and sustained high-speed performance.
- Standard 6C Ultra-Fast Charging: The entire lineup will be equipped with 6C-rated batteries, allowing for incredibly short charging stops.
- CATL Battery Technology: The vehicle utilizes reliable and efficient LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries from CATL.
Smart Driving Powered by Momenta
The Zhijing L7 EV continues Buick’s push into high-level autonomous driving. Visible from the spy shots and filings is a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, supporting the “Xiaoyao” Intelligent Driving System.
- Momenta R6 Flywheel Model: The system is built on Momenta’s latest AI architecture.
- Seamless City NOA: Offers “point-to-point” navigation on autopilot in urban environments without interruptions.
- All-Scenario Parking: Advanced automated valet parking for all types of parking spaces.
Design and Dimensions
Visually, the EV version maintains the “Minimalist Luxury” aesthetic of the EREV model. It remains a formidable presence on the road with flagship-level dimensions:
- Length: 5,032 mm
- Width: 1,952 mm
- Height: 1,499 mm (1,507 mm)
- Wheelbase: 3,000 mm
Powertrain Specs
The Zhijing L7 EV is built for both efficiency and speed. The single-motor rear-drive configuration delivers impressive numbers for its class:
- Max Power Output: 282 kW (approx. 378 hp)
- Top Speed: 220 km/h (137 mph)
Market Position
With the EREV version currently priced between 173,900 and 219,900 RMB, the addition of an 800V pure electric variant makes Buick a serious contender against domestic heavyweights like the Xiaomi SU7 and Zeekr 001. By combining GM’s manufacturing heritage with China’s leading battery and AI tech, Buick is successfully reinventing itself for the NEV era.
