Denza D9 2nd Gen
On April 27, the highly anticipated Second-Generation Denza D9 officially hit the market. As the flagship luxury MPV from the BYD-backed premium brand, the new D9 arrives with six trim levels priced between $49,600 โ $64,800 (RMB 359,800 โ 469,800).
Built on an all-new dedicated hybrid MPV platform, the second generation introduces a massive leap in battery technology, AI integration, and chassis dynamics.
1. Revolutionary Powertrain: 400km Pure EV Range for PHEVs
The most significant upgrade lies under the floor. The Second-Gen D9 is the first to feature BYDโs Second-Generation Blade Battery combined with ultra-fast “Flash Charge” technology.
- PHEV (DM-i) Version: Features a 1.5T engine paired with dual motors. It carries a 66.5kWh battery, achieving a class-leading 400km pure electric range (CLTC) and a fuel consumption of just 6.35L/100km when the battery is depleted.
- BEV (Pure Electric) Version: Equipped with a 115kWh battery, the RWD version offers 750km, while the AWD version pushes the boundary to 800km (CLTC).
- Charging: One year of free “Flash Charging” is included with the launch, significantly reducing downtime for long-distance travel.
2. World-Class Intelligence: DiLink AI & 10-Screen Linkage
Denza has redefined the “Smart Cabin” by offering up to 10 integrated screens, creating a mobile command center.
- The Front Row: Includes a 10.25-inch cluster, a 21-inch HUD, a 15.6-inch main screen, and a unique retractable 15.6-inch passenger screen that doubles as a 5kg-load work table.
- The Rear Row: Features a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted display, dual magnetic headrest screens, and dual armrest touchscreens for seat control.
- NFC Connectivity: Passengers can now control rear entertainment and seat functions simply by tapping their smartphones against the NFC sensors on the armrests.
3. High-Tier Autonomous Driving: Godโs Eye 5.0
Safety and automation have been upgraded to the “Godโs Eye” 5.0 system.
- Hardware: Equipped with 3 LiDAR units and 12 cameras.
- Capabilities: Supports full-scenario NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) for both highways and urban environments, along with 120km/h high-speed AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking).
- Stability: Features specialized “High-Speed Blowout Stabilization” and “Crosswind Stability” systems to ensure the heavy MPV remains composed in extreme conditions.
4. Luxury & Utility: The 882L Trunk Secret
Thanks to the new platform’s integration, Denza moved the exhaust silencer to the front compartment.
- Hidden Storage: This architectural change creates a 126L sunken storage space in the rear.
- Total Capacity: The trunk volume has increased to 882L, comfortably accommodating luggage for 7 passengersโa rarity in the MPV segment.
- Interior Refinement: Piano black plastics have been replaced with Ink-Smeared Spruce wood trim, paired with 30-speaker Devialet audio and a 7.5L intelligent fridge.
5. Chassis: DiSus-C & Anti-Motion Sickness Tech
To solve the common “boaty” feel of large MPVs, the D9 comes standard with the DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system. It also features a proprietary Anti-Motion Sickness system, which uses predictive damping to smooth out the micro-vibrations that cause nausea for rear passengers.
