On April 22, smart hosted its Global Brand Festival in Beijing under the theme “A New Perspective.” Marking a significant milestone in its brand evolution, smart officially unveiled two highly anticipated models: the smart #2 Concept and the smart #6 EHD.
The brand also announced an aggressive global expansion plan, aiming to increase its product lineup from three to five models within this year.
smart #2 Concept: Reimagining the Iconic Two-Seater for the EV Age
The smart #2 Concept is the spiritual successor to the legendary fortwo. Built on smart’s newly developed Electric Compact Architecture (ECA), this concept showcases the future of urban mobility.
Design Philosophy: “Function is Fashion”
Crafted by the Mercedes-Benz global design team, the smart #2 Concept adheres to the philosophy of “Love, Pure, and Unexpected.”
- Exterior: Retains the classic compact silhouette but with futuristic upgrades, such as triangular LED headlights and pixel-grid displays on the front bumper.
- Dimensions: With a total length of just 2,792 mm and an ultra-tight 6.95-meter turning radius, it is designed specifically for effortless city weaving and parking.
Performance and Charging
- Range: Targeted CLTC range of 400 km.
- Fast Charging: 10% to 80% charge in under 20 minutes.
- Innovation: Features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, allowing users to power outdoor equipment directly from the car.
The production version of the smart #2 is scheduled for its global debut in Paris, October 2026.
smart #6 EHD: The Ultimate Luxury Electric Coupe
The smart #6 EHD (Extended High Definition) made its debut as a premium mid-size coupe, blending Mercedes-Benz’s “Sensual Purity” design with high-performance hybrid technology.
Aesthetic and Interactive Technology
Inspired by the sleek lines of a shark, the #6 EHD features a drag-reducing body and a roof-mounted LiDAR.
- PixelTalk System: The front and rear lights consist of 10,666 LEDs, supporting over 20 preset light animations and customizable “handwritten” light messages.
- Interior Luxury: The cabin features a cockpit-style layout with Nappa leather, “Houndstooth Gold” patterns, and a 256-color ambient lighting system fine-tuned by the Mercedes-Benz team.
Digital Experience & AI Integration
The smart #6 EHD is a powerhouse of connectivity:
- Chipset: Equipped with the top-tier AMD V2000 cabin chip.
- Screens: Features a 13-inch dual OLED entertainment screen and a massive 25.6-inch AR-HUD.
- AI Assistant: Integrated with the Doubao AI large model, allowing for voice-activated travel planning and intelligent interaction.
Powertrain: 1,810 km Combined Range
The #6 EHD utilizes a 1.5T Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) system:
- Performance: Combined output of 320 kW with a 3-speed DHT gearbox.
- Efficiency: The 41.46 kWh battery version offers a pure electric range of 285 km (CLTC) and a staggering total range of 1,810 km.
Market Outlook: smart’s Strategic Shift
While competitors like the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal focus on rear-wheel-drive performance, the smart #6 EHD prioritizes interior space, luxury configuration, and energy efficiency.

Pre-sales for the smart #6 EHD will officially open at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24.
