Hongqi H7 PHEV
The Chinese luxury automotive landscape is buzzing as the latest details of the all-new Hongqi H7 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) have surfaced in the official government filings. As part of Hongqi’s aggressive push into the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sector, this refreshed sedan promises a blend of traditional elegance and modern hybrid efficiency.
Powertrain and Electric Performance
The standout feature of the new Hongqi H7 is its sophisticated plug-in hybrid system. It is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a maximum engine power of 110kW.
To cater to different commuting needs, Hongqi offers two ternary lithium battery pack options: 23.9kWh and 30.3kWh. Depending on the configuration, the H7 achieves an impressive pure electric cruising range across three tiers:
- 151 km
- 171 km
- 191 km
This range puts the H7 at the forefront of its class, offering enough electric capacity for most daily urban commutes without consuming a drop of gasoline.
Exterior Evolution: Sleek & Stately
Following its debut at the Beijing Auto Show, the new H7 showcases an evolution of Hongqi’s design language.
- Front Fascia: The signature vertical grille has been refined and narrowed, maintaining the brand’s prestigious look while appearing more aerodynamic. It retains the iconic split-headlight design that integrates seamlessly into the body lines.
- Profile: The car adopts a fastback silhouette, with the roofline sloping gracefully from the B-pillar to the rear, creating a sporty yet composed stance.
- Rear Design: Eschewing the trendy full-width light bar, the H7 features high-set, partitioned taillights similar to the H6 model. A hidden exhaust layout and layered black trim on the lower bumper emphasize its clean, “green” identity.
Interior and Dimensions
Inside, the Hongqi H7 prioritizes “minimalist luxury.” The cabin features a T-shaped symmetrical layout with premium soft-touch materials, accented by wood grain and chrome detailing. In a move toward modernization, most physical buttons have been replaced by a centralized high-definition touchscreen that controls the vehicle’s core functions.
