MG 4X
On May 7, 2026, MG officially unveiled the MG 4X, the latest addition to the acclaimed MG4 family. Positioned as a sporty and high-tech compact electric crossover, the MG 4X is scheduled to open for “blind bookings” on May 11.
The standout highlight of the MG 4X is its cutting-edge battery technology, offering a Manganese-based Lithium-ion (Semi-Solid State) battery option, setting a new benchmark for energy density and safety in its class.
Iconic Design with an Artistic Twist
The MG 4X inherits the aggressive design DNA of the MG4 series while introducing premium visual upgrades:
- Signature Lighting: The front features the iconic illuminated MG logo, now paired with a new through-type light bar for enhanced nighttime recognition.
- Sporty Aesthetics: A dynamic front bumper design reinforces MG’s racing heritage and athletic brand identity.
- Rear Profile: The back mirrors the front’s sophistication with a seamless through-type taillight assembly.
- Dimensions: It measures 4,500mm (L) x 1,849mm (W) x 1,621/1,627mm (H), with a spacious 2,735mm wheelbase, balancing agility with interior comfort.
Smarter Tech: MG x OPPO Collaboration
While full interior specs are yet to be released, early glimpses reveal a “minimalist and warm” cabin atmosphere compared to the standard MG4.
- Dual Displays: The vehicle is expected to feature a familiar large central infotainment screen and a significantly upsized digital instrument cluster.
- Smartphone Synergy: The MG 4X debuts an upgraded Car-to-Phone Interconnection system co-developed with OPPO. This enables “seamless connectivity,” allowing users to transition apps and data from phone to car without friction.
- Intelligent Driving: Powered by Horizon Robotics hardware, the MG 4X supports High-speed NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) and advanced Automated Parking functions.
Performance: Breakthrough in Battery Tech
The MG 4X offers two distinct powertrain and battery configurations to meet different driving needs:
- Standard Range:
- Power: 125 kW motor.
- Battery: 53.9 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP).
- CLTC Range: 510 km.
- Long Range (Semi-Solid State):
- Power: 150 kW motor.
- Battery: 64.2 kWh Manganese-based Semi-Solid State Battery.
- CLTC Range: 610 km.
The introduction of the semi-solid state battery is a significant strategic move, promising better thermal stability and longer life cycles compared to traditional liquid electrolytes.
